Who We Are

Ishtar Beck, MA, RCC

(she/her) Founder and Clinical Director

Welcome! My specialties are holistic individual counselling, couples counselling, and systemic relationship counselling. I also specialize in sexuality counselling and sex therapy for relationships.

In individual work, depth psychology ways of thinking and relating support my offerings. These include exploration of family systems dynamics, parts work, felt-sense somatic experience, symbols, metaphors, and dreams, as well as ancestral healing.

In relationship and couples counselling, my strength-based structured approach facilitates the challenging conversations that need to happen. I teach communication skills for increased understanding, improved emotional connection, and I encourage and actively support your deep dive into sexual connection/exploration. Monogamous and non-monogamous (open, polyamorous) folks are welcome.

I also work with parents, stepfamilies, and folx seeking to heal, grow, and foster well-being.

Christina Atkinson, MA, RCC

(she/her) Registered Clinical Counsellor

I offer a warm relational presence with clients where I seek to deeply understand your lived experience with care, empathy, compassionate curiosity, and respect. I believe that meaningful change happens when you feel seen, heard, and accepted as your full self. Polished answers and surface-level strategies won’t get you where you are seeking to go – sometimes we just sit with the discomfort long enough to learn what it’s trying to say, to tune into what’s happening beneath the noise, and to meet it with compassion.

Elizabeth Schweizer, MC, RCC

(she/her)

I offer person-centred, relational therapy with an active, engaged approach. This means listening deeply and with intention, while creating a space where your experiences, thoughts, and emotions are witnessed and understood.

I believe that individuals have an innate capacity for growth, healing, and self-actualization. My role is to support you in exploring the underlying motives, narratives, needs, fears, and hopes that shape your life, offering care, attention, and guidance along the way.

To support this work, I draw on a range of evidence-informed approaches, including Emotion-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, Trauma-Informed and Somatic therapies, as well as Attachment Theory. By integrating these perspectives, I tailor therapy to meet your unique needs and help you move toward meaningful change.

Pam van Woerkom

Booking Coordinator

Your inquiry is important. I aim to answer your questions and make the inquiry process smooth and welcoming.

To begin counselling, the first step is booking an initial phone consultation with one of the counsellors. This is so you can find out if their services and schedules are a fit for you. I will assist you with booking your initial phone consult and I am also here to help with referrals, provide information, and take care of administrative matters at CounsellingHome.

E-mail availability: 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Please note: if you inquire during the weekend, please expect my reply on Monday and make sure to check your spam folder!

OUR APPROACH

We believe that people of all ages are resilient, and are constantly engaged in learning.

Every human being has created, and can therefore transform, their attitudes, actions, life vision, and ways of belonging. With intent and dedication, we believe all folks are able to significantly impact their day-to-day struggles in a positive way. Our bodies, minds, hearts, and relationships can heal.

As professional counsellors, we are committed to supporting your goals. We will hold space for your struggle and your complicated feelings. We will witness your growth, healing, and unfolding as you experience them. The journey’s destination is your life: coming home to yourself, to living the fullest life you can live.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
